Before coming to Spain, Mahendra ji has brought some Malas of Rudraksha (the seed of Shiva) and has blessed them chanting some mantras... All the malas have 108 beads.
Legend says that, the God Shiva, while dancing his Tandava dance of contemplation and rejoicing, seeing the sufferings and hardships of human beings began to cry.
His tears, when they came into contact with the earth, turned into the seeds of rudraksha.
